Preparation of the MSCA-DN START Project Proposal
VUB, the founder of the Roboticsecolabel initiative, is now coordinating the preparation of the SusTainAble RoboTics (START) Doctoral Network proposal for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). This effort aligns closely with the mission of the Eco-Label for Sustainable Robotics initiative, reinforcing VUB’s leading role in promoting responsible and sustainability-focused robotics research in Europe.
The START consortium brings together 12 universities, 7 research centres, and 15 companies from 10 European countries, forming a strong interdisciplinary collaboration. Key partners include IMEC-NL, PCCL, ICIQ, UNIPV, IIT, JSI, EMPA, LU, UNIVIE, IMEC-BE, RIGA, Inria, and CYU.
The project aims to advance sustainability in robotics by developing comprehensive metrics and fostering innovation that considers the full lifecycle of robotic systems. If the proposal is successful and receives funding, START will support 15 PhD students, providing cutting-edge training at the intersection of robotics and sustainability.
